Since its establishment in September 2019, the National Information Center for Academic Recognition Japan (NIC-Japan) has served as a NIC based on the Tokyo Convention to provide information for the smooth recognition of higher education qualifications, to improve the international mobility of students and researchers.
As part of this effort, we have been holding the “NIC-Japan Seminar Series,” started this year, in which experts from Japan and overseas discuss various topics related to recognition of foreign qualifications, such as examples of such qualifications and education systems in other countries. Following the first two seminars (on Republic of Korea and Mongolia) in July of this year, the next in the series will be held on the Vietnamese education system on December 6 (Monday) and the Indonesian education system on December 21 (Tuesday). Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of VN-NARIC, which recognizes foreign qualifications and provides educational information in Vietnam, will provide an overview and discuss case studies of recognition of foreign credentials done by the agency, as well as the Vietnamese education system and higher education qualifications. For Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Aris Junaidi, Director of Student and Learning Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia, will talk about the country’s education system and quality assurance systems from the standpoint of the ministries in charge. We welcome a wide range of participants, including those who are involved in examining applications from foreign countries at higher education institutions, those who are involved in international affairs, and those who are interested in the education systems of both countries.
